The ICO aka Information Commissioner’s Office is the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.
We have put together some links to demonstrate actions that have been taken on organisations historically who have been in breach of the Data Protection Act and Privacy and Electronic Communcations Regulation.
Companies who mis use peoples personal data are at risk of correctional measures being imposed and potentially monetary fines. Under the DPA and PECR these were up to £500,000 for getting things wrong. Under GDPR the amounts increase to up to £17M or 4% of global turnover – whichever is higher.
If you need advice, support, training, assessments and more, please get in touch with us.
